VIRI's mission is to drive innovation and research in information technology, fostering collaboration between academia and industry to develop cutting-edge IT solutions that address societal challenges and enhance the quality of life in Jamaica and the Caribbean region.

Objectives

  • To be identified as a leading centre for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Blockchain, and Cybersecurity; SMART IOT and Systems in the Caribbean Region.
  • To be identified as an institution of research excellence indicated by indicative publications with impact in the aforementioned areas.
  • Alignment of a research strategy underpinned by each research pillar identified thus requiring an introduction of core research processes across Vector.

  • To be recognized as a transnational center encouraging collaboration among developing countries supported by global collaborators (as part of a Global Research Initiative).
